Based on the true story of then legendary Venice, California skateboarding pioneers known as "The Z-Boys," Lords of Dogtown is an inspiring, action-filled sport film about the lives of three best friends who risked it all to change everything and rise from underdogs and misfits to respected megastars and heroes. Lords of Dogtown is written and produced by award winning filmmaker and skateboarding guru Stacy Peralta (Dogtown and Z-Boys! ) and directed by Catherine Hardwicke, best know for her critically acclaimed and gritty film thirteen. The film stars Emile Hirch (The Girl Next Door, Imaginary Heroes), Heath Ledger (A Knight's Tale, Monster's Ball) and features up-and-coming cast members John Robinson (Elephant) and Victor Rasuk (Raising Victor Vargas).
Lords of Dogtown will be released by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment in both PG-13 and Unrated Extended Cut versions on DVD. The Extended Cut DVD will contain all the features of the PG-13 DVD, plus never-before-seen footage, blooper reel, featurettes and more!

In the 1970s, a group of teenage surfers from a tough neighborhood known as "Dogtown" in Venice, California, pioneered a revolutionary new style of skateboarding. The Z-Boys paved the way to what is now referred to as "extreme sports," and created a lifestyle that spread infectiously to become a worldwide counterculture phenomenon. But all of this would take its toll on their friendships as the sport that started out as an afternoon hobby turned into big business.
