The Beach Boys front man Brian Wilson is put on display in the first trailer for Love & Mercy, arriving in theaters June 5 from Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions. Both Paul Dano and John Cusack play Brian Wilson at different points in his life in this comprehensive biopic that follows his successes with highly-influential orchestral pop albums to his nervous breakdown and subsequent encounter with controversial therapist Dr. Eugene Landy (Paul Giamatti).

Love & Mercy presents an unconventional portrait of Brian Wilson, the mercurial singer, songwriter and leader of The Beach Boys. Set against the era defining catalog of Wilson's music, the film intimately examines the personal voyage and ultimate salvation of the icon whose success came at extraordinary personal cost. The supporting cast also includes Elizabeth Banks, Jake Abel, Kenny Wormald and Dee Wallace.

Bill Pohlad, who produced the Best Picture winner 12 Years a Slave, The Tree of Life and last year's Wild, makes his directorial debut with Love & Mercy, working from a script by Oren Moverman (The Messenger, Rampart) and Michael A. Lerner. Take a look at the first footage from this upcoming biopic.
