According to The Hollywood Reporter, DreamWorks Home Entertainment's Madagascar easily topped the DVD sales charts for the week ended Nov. 20, bumping Warner Home Video's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to No. 2. Industry sources peg first-week sales of Madagascar at around 4.4 million units, a strong showing driven by the film's $193.2 million box office gross and high kid appeal that tends to spur consumer purchases rather than rentals. Indeed, on Home Media Retailing's rental chart for the week ended Nov. 20, Madagascar debuted at No. 5, with estimated earnings of just $6.52 million.
