Madeline Carroll (Swing Vote) has signed on for the lead role in Rob Reiner's coming-of-age comedy Flipped for Castle Rock prods.

According to Variety, Flipped is based on Wendelin Van Draanen's young-adult novel, and centers on the confusing romantic developments of antagonistic boy and girl neighbors who eventually share a kiss when they reach their teens in 1963. Reiner and writer-producer Andy Scheinman (Bait) wrote the screenplay.

Aidan Quinn and Penelope Ann Miller will play the parents of Carroll's character; John Mahoney will portray the boy's grandfather.

Shooting begins June 26 in Michigan with Reiner directing.
