Maggie Gyllenhaal and Hugh Dancy are set to star in the indie romantic comedy Hysteria, centered on the invention of the vibrator in Victorian-era England, according to Variety.

Penned by Stephen Dyer and Jonah Lisa Dyer, Hysteria is directed by Tanya Wexler. Jonathan Pryce and Rupert Everett have already been signed to co-star.

Hugh Dancy and Jonathan Pryce will star as doctors in London treating cases of hysteria, a condition said to be characterized at the time by a woman's irritability, anger or unexplained tears. Hugh Dancy's character and his best friend, portrayed by Rupert Everett, experiment with a new electrical device for treatment for the ailment. Maggie Gyllenhaal portrays the daughter of Jonathan Pryce's character.

Production is scheduled to begin in October in London and Luxembourg.
