Marc Webb is the front-runner to direct the Spider-Man reboot
We are only two days removed from the shocking news that Spider-Man 4 was canceled and the frachise will be rebooted, and it seems there's a front-runner for the new director. Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that (500) Days of Summer director Marc Webb is the front-runner to direct the reboot.

The site is reporting that Webb had already met with Sony execs about the film, which they hope to start production on later this year for a summer 2012 release, in 3-D. It was said that the studio had directors such as James Cameron, David Fincher and Wes Anderson on their wish list, and now it seems Webb is at the top of that list. Here's an excerpt from the article.

What has Sony execs excited is the fact that (500) Days of Summer introduced a director with a grasp of how to depict the way young people think and feel. This is critical because the Jamie Vanderbilt script covers the formative years of a high school-aged Peter Parker, and that POV is as important as the action sequences.
