Nearly 20 years after it went off the air, Sony Pictures Television is planning a reboot of Married with Children that will follow David Faustino as son Bud Bundy and his new family.

Sony, who produced the sitcom for Fox, is taking out the pitch to various networks. At this time, it is unclear if any other cast members will return.

The show originally starred Ed O'Neill as Dad Al Bundy. He is currently one of the main cast members of the very popular ABC sitcom Modern Family. Its unlikely he will return in a substantial role, though a cameo appearance or two is not out of the question. Katey Sagal, who played mom Peggy Bundy, is currently appearing in her final season of Sons of Anarchy and does not have another show currently in the works. Same with Christina Applegate, who played daughter Kelly Bundy. Is it possible that they will sign on for supporting or recurring roles?

Amanda Bearse and Ted McGinley appeared as neighbors Marcy and Jefferson Darcy. Its possible that they could be back as well. And there is always room for original neighbor Steve Rhodes, played by the incomparable David Garrison.

The entire Bundy clan last appeared together in an episode of David Faustino's Crackle web series Star-ving, which saw the three main leads reuniting for a Married with Children movie that, interestingly enough, had snubbed David Faustino. David Faustino also appeared in an episode of Modern Family, but he did not share any screen time with his former co-star Ed O'Neill. All four Bundy family members gathered for Katey Sagal's recent Walk of Fame ceremony.

Married with Children was one of the original series on FOX when it first launched back in the late 80s, and remained on the network for an impressive 11 seasons, airing from 1987 until 1997.

While Michael G. Moye and Ron Leavitt created and often wrote for the show, there is no indication that Michael G. Moye will return, with Ron Leavitt having passed away in 2008. At this time, it is unclear who will write and direct the new series.
