Last year, it was confirmed that Sony Pictures Television is developing a revival of the iconic sitcom Married With Children, which will center on David Faustino returning as Bud Bundy, who is grown up with a family of his own. That report revealed the entire cast, including Ed O'Neil, Katey Sagal and Christina Applegate will return as the Bundy clan, but we haven't had any updates on this long-awaited series for some time. Today we have word from David Faustino himself, who reveals that this project is still hung up on one legal issue.

Back in August, Katey Sagal revealed that she would absolutely return for this series, along with Ed O'Neil and Christina Applegate, but there haven't been any concrete updates because of this legal snag. David Faustino recently appeared on the Allegedly podcast, where he revealed that there is one unidentified legal issue that is still holding up the progress of returning the Bundy Family to the small screen. Here's what he had to say about the potential series.

"It has been in the works for a couple of years. The cast has said yes, they would recur. It's kind of based around Bud Bundy. Sony is very excited about it, but there has been one issue, a legal issue, that they haven't been able to get around at the moment that they're still trying to work out, which we obviously hope they'll work out, as do the fans. But if it does, you'll see it and if they can't figure this out, then you won't."

Married with Children debuted in 1987, and was Fox's first big sitcom, which generated plenty of controversy. It wasn't a hit right away, but the series gained a huge following throughout its 11-season run, with many calling it the "Anti-Cosby Show." The series ended rather abruptly when it went off the air in 1997, and fans have been clamoring for its return since then.

The actor also added that there has been a rumor that the show could end up on Netflix, but nothing has been set in stone yet. David Faustino did appear on Ed O'Neil's current hit series, Modern Family, although he didn't have any actual scenes with his Married With Children co-star. Unfortunately, David Faustino didn't shed any light on what this actual legal issue may be, but stay tuned for more on the Married With Children revival.
