Back in September, we reported that Sony Pictures Television is developing a spinoff of the beloved 1990s sitcom Married with Children, which would star David Faustino as Bud Bundy, who is grown up with a family of his own. We haven't heard anything regarding the spinoff since then, but, E! Online caught up with original Married With Children stars David Faustino and Christina Applegate, who confirmed that the Married...With Children Spinoff is in the works. Here's what David Faustino had to say.

"Sony has it. They're excited about it. They're working out some legal issues that we hope they work out. The whole cast, including Christina, is down to do little bits in it. The idea would be a pilot for a spinoff. That's all I can say right now. It involves me and few other people."

Ironically, the news was broke during the red carpet premiere of Christina Applegate's Vacation, which follows a premise similar to the Married with Children spinoff. Ed Helms stars as the grown-up Rusty Griswold from the original Vacation movies, who re-creates his childhood road trip to Walley World with his own family. Christina Applegate, who played Bud Bundy's sister Kelly in the original Married with Children, plays Rusty's wife in the comedy movie, which opens in theaters today. The actress also revealed at the premiere that the entire Married with Children cast, including Ed O'Neill, Katey Sagal, Amanda Bearse, Ted McGinley and David Garrison, would reprise their roles for this new TV series.

"All of us have said we would all be there for [Faustino]. Kelly Bundy probably has like 10 kids. I'm sure of it."

If this Married with Children spinoff does move forward, it certainly won't be the first show to tackle this hybrid reboot/spinoff format. Disney Channel's Girl Meets World is a continuation of the 1990s sitcom Boy Meets World, following the main characters as adults, raising their own family. Other upcoming shows like Netflix's Fuller House, NBC's Coach and Heroes Reborn and Showtime's Twin Peaks are all set several years, if not decades, after the original programs went off the air. And the idea is hardly new. Classic sitcoms The Brady Bunch and Leave It to Beaver also returned to the airwaves with tier original casts in tact for a look at who everyone grew up.

It isn't known if Sony has brought in writers already to develop this new version of Married with Children, which was originally created by Michael G. Moye and Ron Leavitt. There is no indication yet whether or not Ron Leavitt is involved, but Ron Leavitt passed away in 2008. Are you looking forward to a new version of Married with Children?
