Mad Men writer-producer Marti Noxon will script DreamWorks Studios' remake of the 1985 horror comedy Fright Night.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, before her work on the hit AMC series, Noxon was a writer-producer on the bloodsucker series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, so fangs and stakes are in her blood.

The original Fright Night, released in 1985, was written and directed by Tom Holland and starred Chris Sarandon, Roddy McDowall and William Ragsdale. Ragsdale played a teenager who discovers his neighbors are vampires.

The new version will keep the comedy-horror tone while modernizing the effects.

Nobody can fill Roddy McDowall's shoes in this role. Nobody!

Yeah, I'm with you, err. Before, I just used to get pissed when I heard one of my favorites were getting remade. Now, i just throw my hands up and say f*ck it.

I won't be watching the remake, I rather see the original.

Flukey, it's not the filmmakers or the directors or the writers it's mainly the producers. They have the money and they want to make sure they get more of it back, hence the reason why we have so many remakes and sequels. As for the writers and directors, if you name isn't Spielberg then you are just SOL on making an original movie.

                          yep.

vampires are all the rage right now.

whatever, i guess, as long as its funny and not a crapfest i'll check out the dvd when its released.

That's all i hear these days, remake that and remake this, sequel this and prequel that. We need a new breed of filmmakers, directors, writers and producers. Sick of hearing Saw 7, Scream 4, etc etc
