The Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series has always had connections to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a cast lead by Marvel Phase One fixture Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson) and guest appearances by Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury. Not to mention that the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier heavily impacting the last few episodes of Season 1. Today we have a new report from Badass Digest that suggests the show will be setting up one of Marvel's impending Phase Three movies, Inhumans.

The latest Season 2 episodes have shown that the mysterious alien obelisk, which has ties to Skye (Chloe Bennet), is actually the key to a hidden alien city, which could be Attilan, as both S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra try to find the city and discover it secrets. The show has also featured an ancient Kree alien corpse, which helped bring Coulson back to life.

Fans learned in the last episode, "The Things We Bury", that the corpse pre-dates the Egyptian pyramids, and that the Kree first came to Earth a millenia ago to possibly wipe out the planet. Both the corpse and the obelisk tie into the Inhumans, which Marvel announced last month will be a new Phase Three movie, debuting on November 2, 2018.

Attilan is described as "the number one secret city in the Marvel Universe," so it would make sense that it will be used on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., perhaps to boost the sagging ratings of the show. But it still seems unlikely that the Inhumans themselves will be present on the show.

It's also possible that the show is setting up a connection to Avengers: Age of Ultron, and that the twins Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) will be Inhumans. Since Hydra has been experimenting with Kree DNA this season, and they have seemingly activated the twins' powers, it could prove to segue into Avengers: Age of Ultron, and could allow for Hydra leader Baron Von Strucker (Thomas Kretschmann) to show up in the second half of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2. The site also speculates that Skye herself may be revealed as an Inhuman, establishing a connection from the show to the future movie Inhumans several years before it hits theaters.

The plot rundown for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s next episode, "... Ye Who Enter Here", airing Tuesday, December 2, reveals that the S.H.I.E.L.D. team finds the ancient city before Hyrda, but, "uncovering the secrets may require one of Coulson's team to make the ultimate sacrifice."
