Marvel Studios has made quite the habit of nabbing top-notch talent for their movies, and it looks like they may have their sights set on yet another big name. The studio has a lot of movies coming out over the next handful of years, so they will have a lot of new roles to fill. While it is far from a sure thing, we have a clue that leads us to believe Sigourney Weaver may be filling one of those upcoming roles.

Recently, Wired did a fairly in-depth interview with the Aliens actress which covered everything from Donal Trump to the state of women in Hollywood. At one point, the subject of women in superhero movies came up and Sigourney Weaver revealed that she has been watching some Marvel movies. Here is what she had to say about it.

"To me, a good movie you cannot generalize. I have been watching, for whatever reason, some Marvel movies, and they cast really good actors."

Wired made a point to not glaze over that statement, so they asked her why she was watching all of the Marvel movies. She simply said, "I can't tell you!" And that is where things get potentially interesting. Were she just watching these movies for fun or leisure, it seems like she could have just said that. However, the fact that she made a point of not being able to talk about why she is watching some very popular movies certainly arises some suspicion. Could it be that Marvel is courting her for a role? It doesn't seem at all out of the question.

Sigourney Weaver seems like the exact type of talent that Kevin Feige and the brass at Marvel Studios love. Long before the conversation about women in Hollywood really got going, she was busy kicking ass on the big screen. Her turn as Ripley in the Aliens franchise remains one of the most iconic of any action hero to ever grace the screen, she just so happens to be a woman. She has also had a long career acting in other sci-fi and action movies like Avatar, Ghostbusters and Cabin in the Woods. It would certainly be a nice treat for Marvel fans if the studio is indeed courting her for a role.

As for where Sigourney Weaver could fit into the MCU? Well, the logical upcoming movie would be Captain Marvel. Oscar winner Brie Larson has already been cast as the title character, but there will surely be room for other strong women in the movie, depending on which way they go with it. Perhaps she could be playing one of the other people, besides Carol Danvers, who has held the title of Captain Marvel over the years like Monica Rambeau or Phyla-Vell? That is just speculation, but there would certainly be room for her in the MCU should Marvel Studios be able to make it happen. All of that being said, her quote isn't anywhere near confirmation that she is being courted for a role, but the idea is surely exciting.
