Mary Steenburgen has signed on to star in A Walk in the Woods, which started production last week.

The project is adapted from the Bill Bryson memoir which centers on the author (Robert Redford), a travel writer, reconnecting with an old friend (Nick Nolte) over a 2,000-mile hike along the Appalachian Trail. Mary Steenburgen is playing an alluring woman named Jeannie, who owns a local motel and uses her charms to try and convince the friends to stay the night at her place of business. Nick Offerman, Kristen Schaal and Emma Thompson round out the supporting cast.

Ken Kwapis (He's Just Not That Into You) is directing from an adapted screenplay by Michael Arndt (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire). Robert Redford is producing with Bill Holderman and Chip Diggins.

Mary Steenburgen most recently starred in Last Vegas and had an arc on Season 5 of the FX series Justified. She will next be seen in the indie drama Song One.
