Matthew Vaughn Back Directing ‘X-Men: First Class’?

Matthew Vaughn directing X-Men: First Class? On Saturday we updated an earlier story with new information that Matthew Vaughn will not be directing X-Men: First Class and now it seems Vaughn might be back on the project after all. Deadline New York is reporting that Vaughn has come back into the picture and is finalizing a deal to direct X-Men: First Class.

The site reports that Vaughn re-entered negotiations this morning and is working out a deal with the studio and his representation. We previously reported that Fox had been looking at such directors as Timur Bekmambetov, Louis Leterrier, David Slade, Daniel Espinosa and Carl Rinsch to direct the film. It was said that several of those directors were interviewed, but when Vaughn came back to the table this morning, they started working out a deal for him to direct.

We'll be sure to keep you posted with any official announcements regarding Matthew Vaughn directing X-Men: First Class as soon as we have more information.

X-Men: First Class was released June 3rd, 2011.

up/down, back/forth... rumors are rumors. today it's all about who reports it first so it's "report first, retract later"... no interest until something is confirmed.

Comes to theaters in 2010? Im not entirely sure, but Im gonna go out on a limb here and say that is probably NOT going to happen. I would say it wont show up until after The Avengers. 2013 or a 2014 release.

Make up your damn minds, people! lol I'd love for Vaughn to direct, but I also think it would be interesting to see Rinsch's take...his short film "The Gift" was fantastic.

Thank god for that! For a while there it was beginning to look like X3 all over again. The only other person on that list who is even remotely worthy of mention is Carl Rinsch, who hasn't even done a feature film yet but certainly showed he's got the eye of a great director with his short film "The Gift". I'm eagerly awaiting his feature film debut with "The Creature from the Black Lagoon" remake, which will prove if he''s really got the goods! I imagine he will considering he is Ridley Scott's protege!

                  Anyways, back on topic.

I was disappointed to see Singer exit off this project but to be completely honest X-Men: First Class really doesn't matter that much to me. All I care about is that Bryan Singer returns to the X-Men franchise with X4, and according to another article I read, Lauren Donner is in the process of making that happen!!

I have yet to see Kickass (mainly because I've heard mixed reviews and bc I'm just not that into it) but one thing everyone has agreed on is that the action scenes were really well done! I think that if given a really good script and a great cast, Vaughn could do a good thing with this! I guess only time will tell.

if it is 2010 and no director yet, how will this come out this year?..me thinks it is a misprint about the year, more like 2011 or 2012

Rumors, rumors, rumors. If in the end, they yield Matthew Vaughn as the director of the new X-Men film, let 'em roll. I don't care.
