Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin are in negotiations to star in the new adaptation Me Before You for MGM Studios.

Based on the novel of the same name by Jojo Moyes, Me Before You follows Lou, a young girl from a small town who meets Will, a successful man who has been confined to a wheelchair after a horrific accident. Lou takes a job as Will's caretaker and they go on a series of adventures. The young woman tries to convince Will that life is still worth living.

Jojo Moyes wrote the first draft of the screenplay, with Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber performing the most recent rewrite. Thea Sharrock is making her feature directorial debut, after directing episodes of Call the Midwife, with Karen Rosenfelt producing. No production schedule was given.

While best known for playing Daenerys Targaryen on HBO's Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke recently starred in the feature Dom Hemingway, and she will next be seen as Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys. Sam Claflin played Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and he starred in this year's thriller The Quiet Ones.
