According to The Hollywood Reporter, Meg Ryan has signed to star in The Role of a Lifetime, the long-gestating romantic comedy about a movie star and a British director whose paths cross on Broadway.

Originally set up at Columbia Pictures a decade ago, The Role of a Lifetime is in the process of moving over to Touchstone Pictures, where Armyan Bernstein's Beacon Pictures will produce alongside the project's original producing trio of Dean Devlin, Kevin Spacey and Denise Di Novi.

Spacey does not intend to act in the film, as had been reported earlier in its development history, and the male lead has not yet been cast.
