Warner Bros. has hired Game of Thrones writer Dave Hill and Hanna scribe David Farr to write Merlin for the studio.

Donald De Line is producing this fantasy adventure for the studio, although no story details have been given. The medieval wizard's tale has been told several times before on the big screen and small screen, including the current hit TV series Merlin that stars Colin Morgan as a younger version of the title character.

No story details have been given for this project as of yet, which is being eyed as a potential franchise by Warner Bros., given the recent popularity of fantasy movies and TV shows such as Game of Thrones. However, this Merlin project is said to be aimed at a more family-friendly audience.

Dave Hill started out as an assistant to Game of Thrones creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff before moving into the writers room. David Farr also wrote for the British TV series MI-5.
