Paramount Pictures has acquired an untitled adventure thriller for Michael Bay to produce and possibly direct through his Platinum Dunes production company.

The plot details are being kept under wraps, but the project is being described as a "real science adventure thriller with an undersea component." Tom Wheeler and Robbie Thompson wrote the screenplay, with Tom Wheeler also serving as co-producer. The project is being eyed as a directorial vehicle for Michael Bay, although it hasn't been confirmed yet if he will take the helm or not.

Michael Bay is currently putting the finishing touches on his highly-anticipated sequel Transformers: Age of Extinction, which is set for release on June 27. His Platinum Dunes company is also producing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Welcome to Yesterday, The Purge: Anarchy and Ouija.

Tom Wheeler created the NBC series The Cape where Robbie Thompson served as a writer and executive story editor. Robbie Thompson currently writes for CW's Supernatural, while Tom Wheeler wrote the upcoming DreamWorks Animation feature B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations.
