In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, comic performer Michaela Watkins was cast in CBS Films' romantic comedy The Back-Up Plan.

Also starring in the film are Jennifer Lopez and Alex O'Loughlin.

In the film, Watkins will play Mona, the longtime best friend of Lopez's character. Lopez plays a single woman who turns to artificial insemination to answer her ticking biological clock only to meet the man of her dreams on the same day as her positive pregnancy test results.

The script was written by Kate Angelo (Will & Grace). Alan Poul (Six Feet Under) is directing.

The film, CBS Films' first feature release, will come to theaters in January. The production starts shooting on May 11 in Los Angeles.
