Just one month after actor Zac Efron signed on to play Mike in the 20th Century Fox comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Workaholics star Adam DeVine has signed on to play Dave. The comedy centers on two brothers who place an online ad to find dates to an upcoming wedding. The plot thickens when their ad goes viral.

Zac Efron had been testing with several other actors over the past few weeks, with the studio hoping to find the co-star who had just the right chemistry with Zac Efron. Variety's sources claim that it was Adam DeVine's "mix of wit and raunchiness in his delivery" that ended up landing him the role opposite Zac Efron.

Jake Szymanski (He's F***ing Perfect, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) is directing from a screenplay by Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O'Brien, who wrote the script for Zac Efron's Neighbors, which earned over $268 million worldwide from just an $18 million budget. Peter Chernin, David Ready and Jenno Topping are producing for Chernin Entertainment, along with Jonathan Levine. No production schedule was given.

Adam DeVine can currently be seen in Season 5 of Comedy Central's Workaholics, and he will next be seen on the big screen in the Universal Pictures musical comedy sequel Pitch Perfect 2, reprising his role as Bumper. He also stars in Warner Bros.' The Intern and The Final Girls debuting later this year.
