Earlier this week, we reported that Paramount was seeking a young, upcoming actor to star opposite Tom Cruise in their franchise sequel Mission: Impossible 4. While names such as Letters to Juliet's Christopher Egan and The Hurt Locker's Anthony Mackie came up, Paramount has finally settled on Mackie's former co-star Jeremy Renner for the role.

This news comes from Deadline, who also report that director Brad Bird will begin shooting the action-packed forth installment of this popular series in the fall.

In selecting Jeremy Renner for the role, Paramount was hoping to hire an actor who could carry on the popular spy series after Tom Cruise departs. At this time, Tom Cruise's Ethan hunt is expected to not only be featured in Mission: Impossible 4, but a fifth film as well.

Mission: Impossible 4 is scheduled to shoot in the United States, Vancouver, Prague, and Dubai. Few plot details are known at this time, with a script written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec.
