Charlie Hunnam and Margot Robbie are in talks to join the Fox 2000 adaptation The Mountain Between Us. Michael Fassbender was attached to star back in March 2012, when Gerardo Naranjo was set to direct, but neither are involved in the adaptation at this time.

The plot is based on the Charles Martin novel that follows Ashley, a writer leaving Salt Lake City for her wedding on the East Coast, and Ben, a doctor returning from a medical conference. After their flight is delayed, they agree to charter a plane back East together, although the pilot suffers a heart attack and they crash in the wilderness. Even though his ribs are broken, Ben helps Ashley, who suffered a broken leg, down the mountain in harsh conditions.

Hany Abu-Assad is directing from a script by J. Mills Goodloe, with Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and David Ready producing.

We reported just yesterday that Margot Robbie is in talks to star in a live-action Ghost in the Shell movie. The actress is reportedly weighing other offers, and sources say her decision on whether to join The Mountain Between Us is still in early stages. Charlie Hunnam is also in talks for Warner Bros.' Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur.
