When beautiful, young Rebecca Lott (Elizabeth Perkins) is unexpectadly widowed, she is left shell-shocked, confused and lonely -- until her best friend Sylvie (Whoopie Goldberg), younger sister Lucy (Gwyneth Paltrow) and ex-stepmother Alberta (Kathleen Turner) all arrive to provide support.
