Apollo 13

At first, it seemed the perfect mission--too perfect, even, to make headlines. After three days in space, three Apollo astronauts--Jim Lovell (two- time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks), Fred Haise (Bill Paxton) and Jack Swigert (Kevin Bacon)--were finally approaching a long-cherished destination. Apollo 13 was going to the Moon.

‘Apollo 13’ Sets a Course for Blu-ray on April 13th

You can finally bring home Ron Howard's classic tale of real-life space drama home in 1080p this April. Apollo 13 will be released on Blu-ray on April 13, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the harrowing space mission and the 15th anniversary of the film. We don't have any pricing details or cover art as of yet, but you can take a look at the massive amount of special features on this new release below. The film stars Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton, Kevin Bacon, Gary Sinise, Ed Harris, Kathleen Quinlan and Mary Kate Schellhardt.

Less than a year after the world marveled at man's first moon walk - and only three years after the deadly Apollo 1 fire - the American public thought of the April 1970 Apollo 13 moon mission as just another "routine" space flight. But soon, four words from Spacecraft Commander Jim Lovell would change all that: "Houston, we have a problem." Stranded 205,000 miles from home in a crippled spacecraft, Lovell, and two other astronauts, Jack Swigert and Fred Haise, fought a desperate battle to survive while Mission Control's heroic ground crew raced against time - and long odds - to bring them home. Academy Award-winner Ron Howard directs Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise, Ed Harris and Kathleen Quinlan in a riveting account of this breathtaking real-life adventure.
