Bachelorette is a 2012 comedy movie.
Starring: Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan, Isla Fisher, Rebel Wilson, Adam Scott, James Marden and Kyle Bornheimer.
Three girlfriends become maid of honors to an unlikely bachelorette. When they accidentally ruin the brides wedding dress, they have a few hours to get it fixed and ready before she eats them alive, literally.
From the trailers, it obviously looked like a female version of the Hangover. While it still held some of those vibes, it all changed. It's catered as a comedy but has more melodrama than you'd expect. Kirsten Dunst plays the bff to Rebel Wilson while being utterly upset that the fat ugly girl get's to be the first in the group to find happiness. Caplan's character has to deal with her ex lover and the terrible past they both had to experience together. Isla Fisher's character is simply a junkie with a need for love.
Bachelorette doesn't pace itself to deliver gigantic jokes to make the crow pee their pants. It works to develop it's characters and the jokes follow to cure us from any chance of getting depressed or emotional. Listening to Dunst throw some F-Bombs was downright sexy. Lizzy Caplan, though I think it's the first time I have seen her work, nearly had me gasping for air with her bursts of jokes. Isla Fisher gets raunchy and nearly embodies Nikki Rhodes without being aware of it.
Overal, if you lower your expectation, you will find some enjoyment or even be stunned like I was. Not the greatest comedy nor in comparison to the first Hangover but far better than part 2.
