“One Of The Greats!”

April 24th, 2012

Got to view this movie about a bureaucrat who dreams of a fantasy girl and who yearns to break away form all of the bureaucracy that chains his life down to a deadly existence. He finds his fantasy girl in real life and becomes embroiled in a scenario where he actually becomes sort of an anarchist. He is alive.

BRAZIL is a beautiful movie. One of the greats. In some aspects BRAZIL is also a visionary movie. I say visionary because it was completed in 1987 and at that time it plays up the existence of terrorism as though it was so commonplace that people just go on with their lives even right after an event happened right next to them.

Terry Gilliam, one of our more gifted directors, mixes romance, action, slapstick comedy and an Orwellian scenario with great skill.

Actor Jonathan Pryce is fantastic in the lead role, along with great portrayals by everyone else (incl Robert De Niro, Ian Holm, Michael Palin, Kim Greist and Katherine Helmond
