EXCLUSIVE: Six ‘CBGB’ Online Memes

CBGB was released in theaters on Friday, Ocotber 11th by XLrator Media. As we move into the second week of release, we have a set of six online memes from the film, which feature Alan Rickman as famed club owner Hilly Kristal, Rupert GrintCheetah Chrome, Malin Akerman as Debbie harry, Ashley Greene as and Joel Moore as Joey Ramone along with some of the iconic dialogue from the movie.

CBGB looks at New York's dynamic punk rock scene through the lens of the ground-breaking Lower East Side club started by eccentric Hilly Kristal in 1973 originally as a home for "country, bluegrass and blues" (thus the club's name) and which showcased cutting-edge bands through its closing in 2006.

‘CBGB’ Trailer with Rupert Grint

The story of how a nightclub called Country Bluegrass and Blues turned into an iconic punk rock venue is put on display in the first trailer for CBGB. Alan Rickman stars as Hilly Kristal, the club's owner who helped launch the careers of legendary musicians such as The Ramones, Patti Smith, Blondie, and many, many more. This rock-infused drama from director Randall Miller was acquired by XLRator Media in May, and, while a release date hasn't been confirmed yet, the studio will likely debut CBGB this fall. Check out the latest footage from this ensemble, which also stars Rupert Grint, Malin Akerman, Johnny Galecki, Taylor Hawkins, Stana Katic, and Ashley Greene.

‘CBGB’ Lands at XLrator Media

XLrator Media has acquired all U.S. distribution rights to the film CBGB, a rock 'n roll true story of the legendary New York City club that launched dozens of top bands and is known globally as the home of American Punk Rock music. CBGB tells the tale of the famed venue and its iconoclastic founder Hilly Kristal, portrayed by Alan Rickman (Harry Potter series) and directed by Randall Miller (Bottle Shock). The release of the much-buzzed-about film is timed to take advantage of the huge CBGB Music Festival event this Fall and the current mainstream popularity of "PUNK" in the media, art and fashion. The announcement was made today by XLrator Media CEO Barry Gordon.

The film will be released theatrically to coincide with the fast-growing CBGB Music Festival, which takes New York City by storm October 9-13, 2013 with over 500 bands performing on 175 stages across the city including Times Square and Brooklyn's Barkley Center.

Randall Miller (Bottle Shock) directs this rock drama that focuses on the several personalities who inhabited the famed New York City punk rock nightclub, owned by Hilly Kristal (Alan Rickman). Rupert Grint and Alan Rickman Reunite for ‘CBGB’ Set Photos

Today, we have the first set photos from CBGB, which reunites Harry Potter cast mates Alan Rickman and Rupert Grint in this biopic on punk club owner Hilly Kristal. Alan Rickman is almost unrecognizable as Hilly in his curly wig, while Rupert Grint is the black leather clad and cut-up Cheetah Chrome, lead singer of The Dead Boys.

The film is currently being shot in Savannah, Ga., where Justin Bartha was also spotting, playing the slashed-up Stiv Bators, also of The Dead Boys, along with The Twilight Saga's Ashley Greene. Check it out as they all get their punk on!

Ashley Greene Joins ‘CBGB’

Twilight star Ashley Greene has joined the growing cast of CBGB for director Randall Miller.

The actress will play Lisa Kristal, the daughter of Alan Rickman's Hilly Kristal, who owned the famous CBGB punk music club in New York. Lisa frequently clashes with her father in the script, but eventually becomes the business manager of the venue until it closed in 2008.
