Actress Leven Rambin had a rather huge year in 2012, with two major releases that hit theaters. She portrayed the District 1 tribute Glimmer in the spring blockbuster The Hunger Games, and starred as Kim, the love interest of Jonny Weston's Jay Moriarty in Chasing Mavericks, which is currently available on Blu-ray and DVD. I recently had a chance to speak with the talented actress over the phone about stepping into the world of surfing for Chasing Mavericks. Here's what she had to say.

We have an exclusive featurette for the new surfing drama Chasing Mavericks, arriving on Blu-ray and DVD February 26. Gerard Butler portrays Frosty Hesson, who trains a young phenom (Jonny Weston) how to tackle the legendary waves known as the Mavericks. Gerard Butler reveals how much it meant to him to hang out with real surfing legends, because of how intimidated he was by the sport as a young lad. Chasing Mavericks is the inspirational true story of real life surfing phenom Jay Moriarity (played by newcomer Jonny Weston). When 15 year old Jay discovers that the mythic Mavericks surf break, one of the biggest waves on Earth, is not only real, but exists just miles from his Santa Cruz home, he enlists the help of local legend Frosty Hesson (played by Gerard Butler) to train him to survive it. As Jay and Frosty embark on their quest to accomplish the impossible, they form a unique friendship that transforms both their lives, and their quest to tame Mavericks becomes about far more than surfing. Chasing Mavericks was made with the help of some of the biggest names in the surfing world, and features some of the most mind-blowing real wave footage ever captured on film.

‘Superman: Man of Steel’ Confirms Cooper Timberline as Young Clark Kent

The kid is so green; we don't even have him in our database yet! Richmond, Virginia native Cooper Timberline has been handpicked by director Zack Snyder to play young Clark Kent, the boy who grows up to be Superman, in Warner Bros. upcoming DC Comics reboot Superman: Man of Steel.

The actor was cast in June, and, even at the age of eleven, has already become a veteran of the stage, taking on many roles in and around Richmond where he is well known within the theater community.

Michael Apted Takes Over ‘Of Men and Mavericks’

Walden Media's surfing drama Of Men and Mavericks is scheduled to wrap production next month, although a new director will be at the helm. Michael Apted is filling in for director Curtis Hanson for the last 15 days of principal photography, starting on Monday.

Curtis Hanson recently experienced complications from a heart surgery, which leaves him incapable of finishing the production. It isn't known if Michael Apted will oversee post-production as well, or when Curtis Hanson is expected to fully recover.

‘A Good Day to Die Hard’ Set for Valentine's Day 2013 Release

20th Century Fox has given an official title and release date for A Good Day to Die Hard, the fifth installment of the Die Hard franchise, which will hit theaters on February 14, 2013, which is a Thursday. The only other movie scheduled to open that weekend is The Seventh Son, which debuts on February 15, 2013.

The studio has also issued a release date for Taken 2 on October 5, 2012. It still isn't known when production will start on Taken 2, although Liam Neeson and Maggie Grace are expected to return. As of now, Taken 2 will go up against Frankenweenie and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D.

The Hunger Games actress Leven Rambin has joined the cast of the indie drama Mavericks for director Curtis Hanson.

The movie is based on the true story of Jay Moriarty, a bold surfer who dared to conquer the Santa Cruz waves known as Mavericks. It is said that during the winter, these legendary swells can grow to the size of a five-story building. Jonny Weston is portraying Jay Moriarty and Leven Rambin will play his best friend and potential love interest. Gerard Butler also stars as surfing coach Rick "Frosty" Hesson.
