Undoubtedly Scorsese's most fun movie, Goodfellas is a masterpiece in editing and cinematography. Ray Liotta plays real-life gangster-turned-federal witness Henry Hill in a lush epic drama that spans nearly 30 years. Not as hard-hitting or perfectly crafted as the Godfather (real life never is), but what it does it does amazingly well. Scorsese really captures the sense of what Hill feels like, his rebellion, his power, and ultimately his fear. A fantastic film.
