This movie can be summed up exactly how you think: Classic Clint. He totally owns the screen and delivers a very moving performance. The supporting cast flat out sucks. The actress who plays Tao's sister belabours the entire film with her sludge-like delivery. She reads lines like she's reading lines. Let me make this clear: If Clint Eastwood weren't in this movie, it wouldn't be good. The supporting cast just isn't there. The biggest surprise here is the laughs that you will find yourself having amidst all the drama. It really is a well written script, I wish it could have been a better ensemble performance.
