Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are each directing a 60-minute horror tale for "Grindhouse". Rodriguez's part, "Planet Terror," will be a zombie movie, while Tarantino's section, "Death Proof," will a slasher film. Faux trailers and ads will run between the two pics as an intermission.
We reported a few weeks back that a double-feature film set could be hitting 1080p shelves in the very near future and now that news has been confirmed. High Def Digest is reporting that Vivendi is planning on releasing Grindhouse: Special Edition on Blu-ray on October 5.
No specs or special features details were released, but the site also reports that both Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof and Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror will both be released in this two-disc BD set, which will be priced at $19.97 SRP.Read More
When Grindhouse opened in theaters across the country on April 6th of 2007, it didn't fare too well at the box office. Some blamed the film's length, and when it arrived on DVD and Blu-ray, it was released as two separate films: Death Proof [2 Discs] [Special Edition] [Extended and Unrated] and Planet Terror [2 Discs] [Special Edition] [Extended and Unrated]. Absent from these releases were the faux-trailers that ran during the film's intended intermission.
While we don't have actual release date information, or any further details regarding the release of this DVD, we will keep you updated as information comes in.Read More
