Rowling Apologizes for Killing ‘Harry Potter’ Character

Though its been many a moon since all of the Harry Potter books were released, a lot of children and some adults haven't yet gotten around to reading them, or watching the movies. So take note. There is a Spoiler ahead. Today marks the 17th anniversary of The Battle of Hogwarts. In remembrance of this occasion, author J.K. Rowling apologizes for killing off fan-favorite character Fred Weasley!

The Battle of Hogwarts took place on May 2nd, and was recounted in the final pages of the series-ending book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which was later turned into a very successful movie. During this epic fight, one-half of the Weasley Twins found himself entering the afterlife. Though he wasn't the only soul to sacrifice himself that fateful day in the name of good versus evil, he is the only one that gets a special shout out from J.K. Rowling today. The author is limiting her apologies to just one character a year.

‘Harry Potter’ Trio Reunite for One Final Adventure

Universal Studios Orlando announced a new ride for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter entitled Escape from Gringotts, which will be a part of the Diagon Alley expansion set to open sometime this summer. The theme park has released a behind-the-scenes video including footage from the ride, along with Warwick Davis and Rupert Grint, who will be reprising their roles from the film franchise for a new short film will be shown as part of the attraction, along with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Ralph Fiennes and Helena Bonham Carter. Is Warner Bros. Planning ‘Harry Potter’ Spin-offs ‘Quidditch’ and ‘Beedle the Bard’?

Earlier this month, Warner Bros. announced that they are planning a Harry Potter spin-off movie based on the fictional book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which both appears in the movies and the original J.K. Rowling novels. The studio just recently trademarked the title, along with two other unannounced books within the Harry Potter world, Tales of Beedle the Bard and Quidditch Through the Ages, which may hint that more spin-offs coming.

J.K. Rowling wrote Quidditch Through the Ages under the pen name Kennilworthy Whisp in 2001, and it was meant to serve as a copy of the book referenced in the Harry Potter universe, which breaks down the history of this wizarding sport.

‘Harry Potter’ Spin-Off Planned for ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’

Warner Bros. Entertainment today announced an expanded creative partnership with world-renowned, best-selling author J.K. Rowling. At the center of the partnership is a new film series from Rowling's world of witches and wizards, inspired by Harry Potter's Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and the adventures of the book's fictitious author, Newt Scamander. The announcement was made by Kevin Tsujihara, Chief Executive Officer, Warner Bros. Entertainment.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be an original story and will mark Rowling's screenwriting debut. It is planned as the first picture in a new film series. Set in the wizarding world, the story will feature magical creatures and characters, some of which will be familiar to devoted Harry Potter fans.
