House at the End of the Street

(2012)

Seeking a fresh start, newly divorced Sarah (Oscar®-nominee Elisabeth Shue; Leaving Las Vegas, Piranha 3D) and her daughter Elissa (Oscar®-nominee Jennifer Lawrence; The Hunger Games, X-Men: First Class) find the house of their dreams in a small, upscale, rural town. But when startling and unexplainable events begin to happen, Sarah and Elissa learn the town is in the shadows of a chilling secret. Years earlier, in the house next door, a daughter killed her parents in their beds, and disappeared - leaving only a brother, Ryan (Max Thieriot, My Soul to Take), as the sole survivor. Against Sarah's wishes, Elissa begins a relationship with the reclusive Ryan - and the closer they get, the deeper they're all pulled into a mystery more dangerous than they ever imagined.

EXCLUSIVE: Mark Tonderai Talks ‘House at the End of the Street’ Blu-ray

Director Mark Tonderai made his feature directorial debut in 2008 with the thriller Hush, after working as an actor, writer, and producer for various films and TV shows. The filmmaker returned to the silver screen last year with House at the End of the Street, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Elisabeth Shue, and Max Thieriot. The story follows Sarah and Elissa (Elisabeth Shue and Jennifer Lawrence), a mother and daughter who move into a dream house they shouldn't be able to afford. As it turns out, just at the end of the street, a young girl killed both her parents, with the lone survivor Ryan (Max Thieriot) living all alone in that big house. When Elissa starts to get close to Ryan, she learns the untold truth about what really happened. I recently had the chance to speak with Mark Tonderai over the phone, to discuss the film, which debuted earlier this week on Blu-ray and DVD. As it turns out, the filmmaker happens to be a very big fan of the site. Here's what he had to say.

Mark Tonderai: I love your site. I used to look at your site religiously. It's a good site.

‘House at the End of the Street’ Takes Us on a L.A. Murder House Tour!

‘House at the End of the Street’ Takes Us on a L.A. Murder House Tour!

We go on a L.A. murder house tour for House At The End of the Street, including this home where The Black Dahlia may have died Every year, there are usually a number of horror films based on or inspired by some sort of true story. The upcoming Relativity Media thriller House at the End of the Street is not based on such a story, but, if you're familiar with any number of grisly crimes in Los Angeles, it very well could be. In honor of this terrifying tale, arriving in theaters September 21, I was invited to take part in a unique tour of infamous L.A. murder houses, all of which were in very different neighborhoods scattered throughout the City of Angels.

Our evening began, fittingly, at the Museum of Death on Hollywood Boulevard, where we were shown a number of bizarre "artifacts" from the Charlie Manson killings and the Heaven's Gate mass suicide. There were also some of the most sickening images I have ever seen, taken by an L.A. woman and her boyfriend who decided to murder and dismember the woman's husband... and then take photos of it... and then take said photos to get developed, which lead to their arrest.

‘House at the End of the Street’ 'Lights Out' Clip

Back in July, Relativity Media was handing out House at the End of the Street flashlights at Comic-Con, which displayed the phone number (773) 451-9439. For those who called that number, and received a message from Jennifer Lawrence in character as Elissa, you also received a text saying she will "text you again when I'm in trouble." Apparently, Elissa is in trouble today, since I received another text that lead to another message resulting in this brand new clip. Check out this scene where she tries to escape from the horrific basement in her neighbor's creepy house.
