Immortals Review

“Its No 300 , But Ten Times Better Then Clash Of The Titans , Immortals Lacks In The Idea Of Storytelling And Its Much Better Then Expected , Its Farily Well Executed With Intense Action Sequences That Give This Fantasy Epic A Pass To See It In Theaters”

Well when i first heard of this movie coming "Immortals" i had but two mainly important things to say about it , Dumb , Looks stupid and blah blah blah , well its just goes to show that well you should not judge a book but its cover , and for this movie i was , I was extremely dissapointed with the trash that was "Clash of the Titans" (2010) the idea of adding on Converted 3D was not needed but it still did not help the movie so i saved a few extra bucks and decided to screen this flick in 2D and i gotta saw it was wonderful the crisp , clear and beautiful 2D it just reminded me of how movies should look and feel and not add on headaches , sure in some cases 3D works (i.e Avatar or Jackass 3D) but when you get a movie like this called Immortals about the gods and mythology nobody cares what "D" its in , and for this , this movie was just fine in plain 2D so i don't know what everyone is complaining about. Immortals stars many unknowns for that matter fans of the twilight saga should notice Kellen Lutz almost immediately while Freida Pinto (whom you may remember from Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and then throw in the cheesy performance by Mickey Rourke (he gets a pass here) along with Henry Cavil whom after this movie makes me question how far he could really go , i really believed his performance and hope to see more flick with him as the leading man.

Immortals, and is loosely based on the Greek myths of Theseus and the Minotaur and the Titanomachy. When the king of , Hyperion (Mickey Rourke), declares war on Olympus after the Gods fail to answer his prayers to save his family from illness, and starts searching for the Epirus Bow, a powerful weapon created by the God of War Ares (Daniel Sharman), which he intends to use to release the Titans from Mount Tartarus and destroy the gods. After watching the king of , Hyperion kill his mother in cold blood , Theseus starts out on a epic quest to find him and kill him before he completes his quest thus along the way enlisting the help of a known thief and slave Stavros (Stephen Dorff) and engaging in the help of a virgin oracle who is the only one who knows the whereabouts of the this ancient cross bow. But as the king gets closer and closer to finding what he is looking for Theseus is slowing building up an army that is ready to stand and take ground in what would go down in history as one of the greatest battles ever.

Story: 4.0/5 - I liked the story here mainly because i felt it had a sense of purpose not only was Theseus trying to stop the king but there was a sense of retribution which i enjoyed alot and from movies like this (Season of the Witch or Clash of the Titans) you just get a movie that is just dumb and does not make sense as oppose to this film where you actually care what happens to our characters and actually blends in some fact over fiction in a nice rendition into greek mythology i think fans of 300 will be very much pleased with the overall outcome. Acting 4.0/5 - What can i say when going into a movie called "Immortals" you should first know that your acting is not going to be Oscar Worthy (with the exception of Gerard Butler) but this acting was cheesy and well corny but as the audience knows and i know its expected and its a pass , the gruesome and unbelievable violence alone makes up for it. But there is a great performance turned in here from Henry Cavil which after this movie really makes me question where this movie could go , and Kellen Lutz stepping out of his "Twilight" zone , and it all comes back to Mickey Rourke whom turns in a perfect Villain and one worth Remembering and i truly enjoyed the show he put on for us. Directing: 4/5 - Gets a pass here as it should the camera styles were good and the editing did meet my expectations. Visuals: For a 3D movie and me seeing it in 2D i was pretty damn impressed , it looked stunning for the most part and the scenery made it worth while.

Overall: 4.0/5 - Its no 300 , but ten times better then Clash of the Titans , Immortals lacks in the idea of storytelling and its much better then expected , its farily well executed with intense action sequences that give this fantasy epic a pass to see it in theaters. AS you should come to expect don't get your hopes up this Feb when this film does not get nominated for anything at the Oscars but for fans of this genre (and there are many) this will make up for the garbage that was the Remake of Clash of Titans. Immortals is the clear film that still keeps my hope alive for this genre. Its not a major movie and you should not rush and see this movie by any means , but for the acting , visuals and overall feel the movie has i give it a pass sure why not , the blood spewing , head ripping off and kick ass action sequences are worthy alone for a dozen see its. I cant say its for everyone and some (most) will more than likely find this movie repulsive and never want to see it again , as i feel it was a well made and worthy effort at making a decent Mythology movie. Sure there is no star power here , but with the effective performance turned in by Henry Cavil and the cheesy yet predictable one turned in by Mickey Rourke its a movie that you should make an effort to see this Holiday season.
