Two young girls, who happen to be identical twins, meet by accident. One of them is an orphan about to be adopted by a family that doesn't love her instead of the case worker, Diane (Kirstie Alley), that does. The other is a rich girl that arrived home from boarding school to find her dad, Roger (Steve Guttenberg), about to marry a gold-digger that hates children.

The two young girls hatch a plan to switch places to chase away the gold-digger and unite Diane and Roger.
