Paramount's Insurge Pictures today announced plans to release "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" Director's Fan Cut for an exclusive one-week run beginning Friday, February 25th in 3D theaters across the U.S. and Canada. In an unprecedented move, Paramount will release a revamped version of the star's movie three-weekends following its initial release. Tickets for the limited engagement go on-sale Tuesday, February 22nd at 5pm PST/8pm EST.
As he began the editing process several months ago, and upon realizing the significant amount of great footage he had obtained, director Jon M. Chu began to develop with the studio an idea for a second, and more fan centric, edition of the movie. The college based thriller The Roommate opened at number one last week earning $15.6 million in its debut. Unfortunately, with four new films opening this week including the Adam Sandler comedy Just Go with It, the documentary Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, the animated film Gnomeo and Juliet, and the historical drama The Eagle, The Roommate was unable to hold on to the top spot for a second week in a row.
Debuting at number one this week is the new Adam Sandler (Happy Gilmore) comedy Just Go with It, co-starring Jennifer Aniston (Love Happens). The incredible cast also includes Brooklyn Decker (Battleship), Minka Kelly (The Roommate), Dave Matthews (You Don't Mess with the Zohan), Nick Swardson (Bedtime Stories), Rachel Dratch (Spring Breakdown), Kevin Nealon (Get Smart), and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (The Hours). The film made $8,737 on each of its 3,548 screens for an opening weekend total of $31 million. But the film will have to continue to do well in the next few weeks if it hopes to earn back its entire $80 million production budget.Read More
