40-year-old Andy Stitzer (Steve Carrell) has done quite a few things in his life. He's got a cushy job stamping invoices at an electronics superstore, a nice apartment with a proud collection of action figures and comic books, good friends, a nice attitude. But there's just one little thing he hasn't quite gotten around to doing yet--something most people have done by his age. Done a lot. Andy's never, ever, ever had sex--not even by accident. E! Entertainment has paid close to forty million dollars for the broadcast rights to Judd Apatow's comedy Knocked Up, which only makes sense. One of the main characters in the film, played by Kathryn Heigl, works for E! as a news correspondent. According to Variety, this is the biggest program purchase in the history of the cable channel.
Knocked Up will premier in October of 2009. E! negotiated a rare four-year- exclusive contract so that no other network, broadcaster or cable channel, could air the title from 2009-13.Read More

A couple of independent films made a splash in the top ten this week. Waitress is still holding strong at number six with $2 million. Bug held on at number eight with $1.2 million. And newcomer Gracie, while only playing in a select number of theaters, debuted in the number seven spot with a well earned $1.3 million. The Shue family must be very proud.
This summer's other two major hits Spider-Man 3 and Shrek the Third are starting to see some fall off. Spidey dropped his wobbly web all the way down to fifth place this week, taking in a very tiny $7.5 million. Don't fret, though. Peter Parker and Company have managed to rack in an overall domestic take of $318 million to date. Shrek hasn't given up so easily. That big green ogre is still lingering up there in the third place position, trailing Knocked Up by only $3 million. The film brought in $26 million, putting its cumulative gross at about $254 million.Read More

He is one of the most creative and funny people - Judd Apatow. He's responsible for bringing America two of the best shows ever on television, Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared; and in movies, the classics Anchorman and The 40 Year Old Virgin.
Now, he's back in the raunchy comedy, Knocked Up, starring Apatow regulars Seth Rogan, Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann (who also happens to be his wife), Jay Baruchel, and Jonah Hill. It also introduces a newcomer to his world of humor - Grey's Anatomy's Katherine Heigl, who stars as a newly-named E! News anchor. This film is a real family affair, not only with Leslie, but with Judd and Leslie's two daughters as well, Maude and Iris.Read More
