Max Payne Review
January 2nd, 2009
Max Payne stars Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, and Chris Bridges AKA Ludacris. I want to make this review short and simple so bear with me.
I was disappointed that the direction of the film had taken. The film did not open up how the game did and the film is somewhat a recap of events that already took place.
Mark Wahlberg, who is not as his best, plays the titular character who has probably the biggest chip on his shoulder and dresses in black, constantly. Mila Kunis plays the sexy Mona Sax, the assassin out to kill Max for revenge for his sisters murder. Ludacris plays Internal Affairs investigator Jim Bravura (who is white in the games). Ludacris gave a pretty good performance, now that he is more of an established actor since "Crash".
The film is disappointing, if you don't want to take my word for it, go ahead. John Moore did not excel as the previews made it look. I did hear a Max Payne II was in production, but hopefully that's an inaccurate source. Max Payne was bad and deserves a remake. I enjoyed Hitman better.
