Peter Pan

(2003)

A haunting tale of adventure and dreams, Peter Pan has thrilled audiences around the world since it premiered on a London stage 100 years ago. But J. M. Barrie's classic story of the boy who wouldn't grow up - and the girl whose family insists that she must - has never been fully realized onscreen. Until now. Universal Pictures, Columbia Pictures and Revolution Studios are proud to present the first live-action feature film version of Peter Pan since the silent era. And for the first time, a boy - Jeremy Sumpter - stars in the title role, opposite Jason Isaacs as Captain James Hook. In stifling Edwardian London, Wendy Darling mesmerizes her brothers nightly with bedtime tales of swordplay, swashbuckling and the fearsome Hook. But the children become the heroes of an even greater story when Peter Pan flies into their nursery one night and leads them over moonlit rooftops through a galaxy of stars to the lush jungles of Neverland. Wendy and her brothers join Peter and the Lost Boys in an exhilarating life free of grown-up rules, while also facing the inevitable showdown with Hook and his bloodthirsty pirates.

Peter Pan: In a recent interview with home town paper, The Redlands Daily Facts, Jason Isaacs talked about the most faithful recreation of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan story ever:" 'Peter Pan' is a great romantic adventure and love story between two kids on the edge of growing up,' says Jason Isaacs, who plays the dual roles of Capt. Hook and Mr. Darling.

Now that we have that straightened out, we'll let Isaacs -- who has cornered the market on childhood terror between his role as Lucius Malfoy in "Potter' and now Hook in "Pan' -- explain what Barrie was onto 100 years ago.

Get a closer look at PETER PAN

Isaacs says Barrie describes Neverland as "the drawers in your mind that your mother tidies up when you're asleep." Pulling those drawers open is P.J. Hogan, the Australian director best known for such character-driven comedies as Muriel's Wedding (1994) and My Best Friend's Wedding (1997).

Jason Isaacs talks PETER PAN!

Isaacs is looking forward to seeing the completed version of Peter Pan, which also stars Jeremy Sumpter in the title role and Rachel Hurd-Wood as Wendy Darling.

Though a fan of PJ Hogan's Muriel's Wedding, Isaacs insists that Peter Pan is the film the Australian director was born to make, "because he never really grew up, and he's very childish and I can say that because I'm the actor who never grew up."
