‘Star Wars’ Gets a ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Style Trailer

‘Star Wars’ Gets a ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Style Trailer

Whether you loved it or hated it, the first trailer for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy released in February certainly had an impact on comic book fans around the world, set to the Blue Swede classic tune "Hooked on a Feeling." YouTube user The Usual Suspect has managed to cut together footage from the original Star Wars trilogy (Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi) into a new trailer that captures the same tone and plot points from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Some fans may consider Guardians of the Galaxy to be the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of Star Wars, since it is essentially set in a "galaxy far, far away" from the previous Marvel movies and follows a similar group of "rebels" trying to restore balance to the galaxy. Do you think Guardians of the Galaxy should be compared to Star Wars? Chime in with your thoughts below after watching this unique trailer. You can also check out a fan-made poster for Guardians of the Galaxy in the classic Star Wars poster style in the gallery below.

Han Solo's ‘Empire / Jedi’ Blaster Sells for $200,000

Han Solo's ‘Empire / Jedi’ Blaster Sells for $200,000

The blaster used by Harrison Ford as Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi sold at auction this past Saturday, with the winning bidder taking home the coveted prop for only $200,000.

This screen used blaster was sold through auction house Profiles in History, which had the prop listed as 'invaluable', meaning no price could be put on such a rich piece of cinematic history (that obviously wasn't the case). The DL-44 Blaster is modeled after the World War II German Mauser C96 semi-automatic pistol without its shoulder stock. This particular laser pistol replaced the one used in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. It is not known where the screen used A New Hope pistol is, but many believe it was lost after production.

Watch The Original 1979 ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’ Teaser Trailer

Last week, LucasFilm dug into its archives and re-released the original teaser trailer for Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, shortly after a report that a major announcement is coming regarding Star Wars: Episode VII in the form of a trailer. Today, one week later, the studio has released the original Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back trailer, which, oddly enough, did not show any actual footage from the movie, a tactic that director J.J. Abrams would surely love to employ in the years leading up to Episode VII's 2015 release. The trailer does include concept illustrations by Ralph McQuarrie depicting the Rebel base on Hoth, Cloud City and Luke Skywalker's final duel with Darth Vader.

After two weeks in a row of nostalgic and, frankly, laughable footage from the late 1970s, what does this all mean? It stands to reason that the original Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi trailer will come out next week, but what's next after that? Will we finally get that trailer that was rumored earlier this month? Or, will LucasFilm re-release the prequel trilogy trailers first? Do we have two more weeks left until the Star Wars: Episode VII news we have been desperately waiting for? Or will it be five more weeks? Regardless, enjoy this slice of cutting edge 1970s technology, then read on for news about C3PO's possible return to the franchise.
