First published in the 1980 horror anthology "Dark Forces", Stephen King's novella "The Mist" takes place in a Maine town where a thick mist engulfs the area, killing those caught in its darkness. Terrified survivors seek refuge in a supermarket, while a swarm of murderous critters tries to get in.
If you're waiting on a Blu-Ray version of The Mist, you'll still be waiting for awhile, but it is definitely being planned. Bloody-Disgusting caught up with The Mist writer-director Frank Darabont at the Saturn Awards last night, and he confirmed that a BD version of the film will be coming.
"Yes, The Mist is definitely coming to Blu-ray with the black and white version on it as well," Darabont said.Read More

Director Frank Darabont has had a brilliant career adapting Stephen King novels. He struck gold with the Oscar nominated The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. Frank hits paydirt again with his incredibly dark and sinister adaptation of Stephen King's The Mist, a film that is sure to arouse controversy amongst Christian conservatives. Thomas Jane stars alongside Marcia Gay Harden, Andre Braugher, Laurie Holden, and Toby Jones. The plot centers around a group of people stuck in a supermarket during an attack by a supernatural mist. The Mist holds certain death for those that try to escape, but the situation inside the supermarket is equally dire. Mrs. Carmody, Marcia Gay Harden in another fantastic performance, stirs up trouble with her gospel of fire and brimstone. It's pretty hardcore, and I'd bet the religious right will not react favorably to Mrs. Carmody's response to the biblical 'end of days'.
Frank, who's cool as hell, spoke frankly about religion and fear. He throws down against the fear mongers, in film and reality alike. The cast who were present - Marcia Gay Harden, Andre Braugher, Toby Jones, Laurie Holden, and young Nathan Gamble also offer their views of The Mist and religion. Three-time Oscar-nominee Frank Darabont (The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption) reunites with horror-master Stephen King to write and direct this chilling adaptation of the author's original short story. Following a violent thunderstorm, artist David Drayton and a small town community come under vicious attack from creatures prowling in a thick and unnatural mist. Local rumors point to an experiment called the 'The Arrowhead Project' conducted at a nearby top-secret military base, but questions as to the origins of the deadly vapor are secondary to the group's overall chances for survival. Retreating to a local supermarket, Drayton and the survivors must face-off against each other before taking a united stand against an enemy they cannot even see!
