The Change-Up

(2011)

Growing up together, Mitch and Dave were inseparable best friends, but as the years have passed they've slowly drifted apart. While Dave is an overworked lawyer, husband and father of three, Mitch has remained a single, quasi-employed man-child who has never met a responsibility he liked. To Mitch, Dave has it all: beautiful wife Jamie, kids who adore him and a high-paying job at a prestigious law firm. To Dave, living Mitch's stress free life without obligation or consequence would be a dream come true.

‘The Change-Up’ Blu-ray and DVD Debut November 8th

A family man and a womanizer realize the grass isn't always greener, when these lifelong friends suddenly find themselves thrown into the good, the bad and the outrageous of each other's lives in The Change-Up available on Blu-ray and DVD, both featuring the theatrical and never-before-seen unrated version, on November 8, 2011 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Despite having grown up together, these two couldn't lead more different lives today; Dave (Jason Bateman, Horrible Bosses, Hancock) is a workaholic lawyer, husband and father of three, while ladies' man Mitch (Ryan Reynolds, Green Lantern, The Proposal) lives a single and virtually responsibility free existence.

Over a few too many drinks one night Mitch conveys his envy of Dave's situation complete with beautiful wife Jamie (Leslie Mann, 17 Again, Knocked Up), adoring kids and prestigious career, while Dave admits his own jealousy over Mitch's stress free, laidback lifestyle. Hilarity ensues in the hungover morning that follows, as Mitch and Dave wake up and freak out having swapped bodies, taking the body switch comedy to where it's never gone before. "Reynolds and Bateman are the perfect comedy duo!" says Mark S. Allen, CBS/CW TV Sacramento, as the two men comically struggle to avoid completely destroying each other's lives before they can find a way to get their old ones back. The Change-Up also stars Olivia Wilde (Cowboys & Aliens, Tron: Legacy), Alan Arkin (Get Smart, Little Miss Sunshine), Craig Bierko (Cinderella Man, The Thirteenth Floor) and Gregory Itzin (24, Adaptation).

SET VISIT: ‘The Change-Up’ - Part 2

http://movieweb.com/movie/the-change-up/ We speak with stars Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds along with director David Dobkin on the Atlanta set of this Universal Pictures comedy When I last left off in Part 1 of our set visit for The Change-Up, I was describing a hilarious scene with Ryan Reynolds and young actress Sydney Rouviere, which involved multiple alternate lines, all of which were hilarious. When that scene wrapped up, and they were setting up the next shot, we had a chance to speak with the stars of The Change-Up, Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds. Even with most of this shoot behind them, both actors were still in incredibly high spirits and they both seemed genuinely pleased to be there. Here's what both of these top-notch comedy actors had to say about their experiences thus far on The Change-Up.

We haven't actually seen you guys changing yet. Are you "doing" each other when you change?

SET VISIT: ‘The Change-Up’ - Part 1

http://movieweb.com/movie/the-change-up/ We travel to Atlanta, Georgia to visit the set of this body-switching comedy and talked to executive producer Ori Marmur and writer Jon Lucas To be perfectly honest with you, when I first heard about the upcoming Universal Pictures comedy The Change-Up, I was rather skeptical, even with some A-list talent attached in front of and behind the camera. It's a body-switching movie, which evoked 1980s memories of movies such as Like Father, Like Son, Vice Versa, and even Big, to a certain extent. It's a genre we haven't seen explored in years, with the last prominent example being the Disney remake Freaky Friday, which launched Lindsay Lohan into the stratosphere of stardom. The folks at Universal Pictures invited me to the set of The Change-Up back in January of this year, and, despite my initial trepidations about the movie, which opens in theaters nationwide on August 5, I was sold on the comedy after leaving the set.

For those who might not be familiar with The Change-Up, or who haven't seen the trailer (or the fantastic red band trailer), let me break down the story for you. Dave (Jason Bateman) and Mitch (Ryan Reynolds) are two lifelong friends who grew up to lead very different lives. Dave is a successful lawyer with a lovely wife Jamie (Leslie Mann) and three kids. Mitch is a consummate bachelor who is making a meager living as an actor in Atlanta, mainly performing in small TV commercial roles. Although they lead vastly different lives, each secretly pines for the other's life. Dave dreams of a carefree bachelor's life after being tied down by the wife and kids, while Mitch would die to have a loving wife and three kids who adore him. Dave and Mitch hit the town in Atlanta one night, and they both end up making drunken wishes that somehow come true: they both want the other's life. When they wake up in the morning, Dave finds himself in Mitch's body, and Mitch in Dave's, which, naturally, freaks them both out. They find a way to work together so both of their lives aren't destroyed, while learning that neither of them has the ideal life they imagined, before they can figure out how to switch back into their own skin. Olivia Wilde also stars as Dave's alluring legal associate while Alan Arkin appears as Mitch's estranged father.
