The Incredible Hulk


"The Incredible Hulk," to be directed by Louis Leterrier, will return to the roots of the long-running comic series, combining a well-developed character storyline with incredible action and fun. Zak Penn, who previously collaborated with Marvel on X2 and this summer's smash hit X-Men: The Last Stand, is writing the script. The project is being produced by Avi Arad, Kevin Feige and Gale Ann Hurd and will be executive produced by Michael Helfant and Ari Arad.

More ‘Hulk’ for Tim Blake Nelson?

The Playlist recently chatted with actor Tim Blake Nelson, who revealed that he is still signed onto future installments of the Hulk franchise, where he will reprise his role as Samuel Sterns from the 2008 movie The Incredible Hulk, if asked to do so.

In the comic books, Samuel Sterns transforms into the Leader after being exposed to the same gamma radiation that turned Bruce Banner into The Incredible Hulk. With The Avengers still a few years off, it will be interesting to see how the The Incredible Hulk saga plays out.

EXCLUSIVE: Marvel Studios Talks the Future of ‘The Incredible Hulk’ In 2008 Marvel Studios set out to do something that had never been done before on film, which was create one seamless world that several different film franchises would exist in ... essentially creating the "Marvel Film Universe." It began with the box office hit Iron Man, which featured an after the credits cameo by S.H.I.E.L.D. leader Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson and continued with The Incredible Hulk later that year, which featured an appearance by Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, linking the two films together. That strategy continues with the new movie Iron Man 2, opening on May 7th and the upcoming Marvel film's Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, which are currently in various stages of production. The hope is that all of this will lead up to The Avengers in 2012, which will feature characters from all of those films. With the mixed reaction to The Incredible Hulk, it still remains to be seen how that character will be used going forward.

Yesterday, we had a chance to sit down with Marvel Studios President of Production, Kevin Fiege, while he was out promoting Iron Man 2. We began by asking Fiege if there were plans on making a sequel from The Incredible Hulk at this time?"Not before The Avengers," Fiege confirmed.

Marvel's Kevin Feige on the Future of ‘The Avengers’, ‘Thor’, ‘Ant Man’, ‘Doctor Strange’, and ‘Captain America’!

Marvel Studios president of production Kevin Feige went on record this week at an Iron Man 2 set visit being held in Downey, California, about the future of all upcoming Marvel movie adaptations. He talked extensively about The Avengers, Thor, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, and The First Avenger: Captain America. The biggest news is that The Incredible Hulk will be making his next appearance in The Avengers movie, which has a tentative release date of May 4th, 2012.

Iron Man 2 is being directed by Jon Favreau and will once again star Robert Downey, Jr. The film opens May 7th, 2010.
