The Last Voyage of Demeter


Based on a chapter in Bram Stoker's "Dracula" describing the arrival of the vampire count in England on a cargo ship that has crashed into the rocks at Whitby with no crew and the dead captain lashed to the steering wheel. Stoker tells the story via the captain's log of the voyage, which begins in Bulgaria and becomes increasingly disjointed as members of the crew disappear.

Neil Marshall to Direct ‘The Last Voyage of Demeter’

Neil Marshall (Centurion, The Descent) has signed on to direct the long-delayed genre tale The Last Voyage of Demeter for Millennium Entertainment.

Bragi F. Schut wrote the original screenplay over a decade ago, which expands on a small portion of Bram Stoker's original Dracula novel. The Demeter was the ship that transported the vampire from Transylvania to London, except the ship washes up on shore with only one survivor left. This story tells the tale of that voyage, where one passenger murdered the ship's crew, one by one.

David Slade Talks ‘Daredevil’ Reboot

Director David Slade, who we just reported last week is attached to direct 20th Century Fox's Daredevil Reboot, wanted to give an update to clear up any rumors about the Daredevil Reboot, as well as Deadpool and The Wolverine, via his Twitter page. Here is what he had to say:"So without breaking confidentiality, yes Daredevil, we have a great outline for a very strong character driven take on Mr. Matt Murdock. It will bare no relation to the previous Daredevil movie in any way. We are at early planning stages and have not yet discussed any cast.

The story centers on the ship Demeter, which is transporting Dracula's coffin from Transylvania to London. Along the way, passengers and crew members are brutally murdered. When the ship washes up on shore, only one survivor remains: Count Dracula.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade is in talks to helm The Last Voyage of Demeter for Phoenix Pictures. Stefan Ruzowitzky was previously attached to direct this project, which has been in development for several years, before he left to direct Blackbird last month.

Bragi F. Schut wrote the screenplay, which follows the ship Demeter as it carries Dracula's coffin from Transylvania to London. Although the voyage isn't touched upon much in Bram Stoker's original novel, The Last Voyage of Demeter finally tells the tale of that journey where passengers and crew are mysteriously murdered one by one. In the novel, the boat washes ashore in London with just only one maniacal survivor: Dracula!

Noomi Rapace Joins ‘The Last Voyage of Demeter’

The star of the original movie The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Noomi Rapace, has signed on for her first English-language genre project with The Last Voyage of Demeter, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The movie centers around the harrowing journey of Dracula's coffin from Transylvania to England. The site reports that Noomi Rapace will portray a stowaway on the boat transporting the coffin. The legend goes that when the boat arrived at the port, no survivors were found on board. Ben Kingsley has also joined the cast in an unspecified role, although it was said a lead actor has not been chosen yet.
