The Sacrament

From acclaimed writer/director Ti West (The Innkeepers, The House of the Devil) and master of horror Eli Roth (The Last Exorcism, Hostel, Cabin Fever), The Sacrament follows two Vice Media correspondents as they set out to document their friend's journey to find his missing sister. They travel outside of the United States to an undisclosed location where they are welcomed into the world of "Eden Parish," a self-sustained rural utopia, comprised of nearly two hundred members. At the center of this small, religious, socialist community is a mysterious leader known only as "Father." As their friend reunites with his sister, it becomes apparent to the newcomers that this paradise may not be as it seems. What started as just another documentary shoot soon becomes a race to escape with their lives.

On the heels of its VOD release yesterday, Magnet Releasing has debuted a new clip, TV spot and featurette for The Sacrament. Ti West directs this thriller about a Vice Media correspondent who brings a camera crew on a journey to locate his missing sister, which takes them to a cult known as Eden Parish, run by an enigmatic leader. AJ Bowen, Kentucker Audley, Joe Swanberg, Amy Seimetz, Kate Lyn Sheil and Gene Jones star in this harrowing found footage tale, which debuts in theaters June 6.

Following the red band trailer that debuted last week, Magnet Releasing has provided us with the all-ages trailer, which shows the journey of Vice Media reporters Sam (AJ Bowen) and Jake (Joe Swanberg) as they enter a self-sustained community known as Eden Parish, lead by their charismatic "Father" (Gene Jones), in hopes of reuniting their colleague Patrick (Kentucker Audley) with his long-lost sister (Amy Seimetz). ‘The Sacrament’ Acquired by Magnet Releasing

The Wagner/Cuban Company's Magnet Releasing, genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, announced today that they have acquired North American rights to The Sacrament, a chilling death-cult thriller written, directed and edited by Ti West. Featured in Venice and Toronto, The Sacrament stars AJ Bowen (The House of the Devil), Joe Swanberg (You're Next) and Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color), and features a star-making performance from Gene Jones as the charismatic cult leader known as "Father." Magnet and West are frequent collaborators, working together on West's landmark horror film The House of the Devil, as well The Innkeepers, V/H/S and The ABCs of Death. The Sacrament was produced and financed by Worldview Entertainment. Eli Roth, Jacob Jaffke, Peter Phok, and Worldview's Christopher Woodrow and Molly Conners produced.

The Sacrament stars Bowen and Swanberg as reporters for Vice Media who journey to a remote Central American compound along with a photographer (Kentucker Audley) hoping to reunite with his sister (Amy Seimetz), who has dropped off the map after struggling with drug addiction. They find an isolated community of true believers devoted to a shadowy but charismatic figure called "Father." Skeptical at first, the journalists begin to come around to the group's utopian claims, until things rapidly take a very dark turn.
