Seven Oscar Finalists Revealed for Best Makeup

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that seven films remain in competition in the Makeup category for The 83rd Academy Awards.

On Saturday, January 22, all members of the Academy's Makeup Branch will be invited to view 10-minute excerpts from each of the seven shortlisted films. Following the screenings, members will vote to nominate three films for final Oscar consideration.

Tom Bezucha Directs ‘The Way Back’

Tom Bezucha is set to direct the coming-of-age comedy The Way Back for Mandate Pictures, according to Variety.

Shawn Levy had been attached to direct, but he dropped out to direct the Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. Levy is producing alongside Paul Young and Peter Principato.

Shawn Levy Producing ‘The Way Back’ for Mandate Pictures

The Way Back, a coming-of-age dramedy that Shawn Levy was going to direct and produce for Fox Searchlight, has now been set up at Mandate Pictures with Levy attached only to produce, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The project, which came together quickly on the Fox lot in spring 2007 after Levy's success with Night at the Museum, was to mark the director's move into more specialized fare. But Levy has a busy schedule at big Fox, producing the upcoming Peter Cattaneo comedy The Rocker and directing the Night at the Museum sequel for the studio, among other projects.
