Thor: Ragnarok

(2017)

Also known as Thor 3, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) will return to Asgard when his home realm is threatened by the Ragnarok, which is the Norse apocalypse. Marvel's Kevin Feige has promised that Thor: Ragnarok is "a very important movie for us in Marvel Phase 3...we plan on taking Thor to another level."

‘Thor 3’ and ‘Captain Marvel’ Shooting in Australia?

‘Thor 3’ and ‘Captain Marvel’ Shooting in Australia?

Sources claim that production could begin as early as March 2016 in Queensland, Australia, but it wasn't specified which movie would shoot first. If both projects end up moving to Australia, Thor: Ragnarok would likely shoot first, since it is scheduled for release on November 3, 2017, while Captain Marvel doesn't hit theaters until November 2, 2018. Another reason Thor: Ragnarok may film in Australia is to accommodate star Chris Hemsworth, who currently lives in Byron Bay with his wife and three children, which is just a one-hour drive to the studios on the Gold Coast.

Another viable reason for shooting in Australia is the Australian dollar is currently at a six-year low, which is causing studios to capitalize and get more for their money down under than they would at home. Yahoo! Australia finance editor Trevor Treharne explained that one U.S. dollar is worth $1.40 in Australian dollars, or, translated on a bigger scale, a $350 million budget in U.S. currency is worth $491 million in Aussie dollars. Disney isn't the only studio looking to take advantage of this potential windfall.

‘Thor 3’ Will Be Teased in ‘Captain America: Civil War’

‘Thor 3’ Will Be Teased in ‘Captain America: Civil War’

It's worth noting that, in the Civil War comics, Thor was presumed to be dead at one point. This lead Tony Stark to create a clone of the Asgardian warrior with DNA collected from a strand of the mighty warrior's hair, with the help of Hank Pym and Reed Richards, with the clone taking on the name Ragnarok. It remains to be seen if this particular story line will be teased in Captain America: Civil War or Thor: Ragnarok. Obviously Marvel can't us Reed Richards in Thor: Ragnarok, since 20th Century Fox controls the rights, but the studio could easily alter the story to include a different character, if they plan on going this route.

Captain America: Civil War comes to theaters May 6th, 2016.
