Adam Sandler is in talks to replace Mark Wahlberg in the Warner Bros. football comedy Three Mississippi.

We first reported on the project last May, which centers on two rival families who play a tackle football game every Thanksgiving Day. The comedy was originally set to reunite The Other Guys director Adam McKay with stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. However, we reported in February that Mark Wahlberg will star in Lone Survivor, and his commitment to that Navy SEALs thriller lead to his departure on Three Mississippi.

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg Football Comedy Finds Writer-Director Team Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are in talks with Sean Anders and John Morris to write and direct their football comedy, Three Mississippi.

The comedy, which is also known as Turkey Bowl, tells the story of a feud between two families over an annual Thanksgiving touch football game that has existed for 50 years. The comedy duo will be playing the heads of the opposing households.

Adam McKay also said the title was changed from Turkey Bowl to Three Mississippi because a new indie film had just been sold with the Turkey Bowl title. It also seems that Adam McKay won't direct, Three Mississippi, although he is attached as a producer.
