‘Vamps’ Acquired by Anchor Bay Films

Anchor Bay Films announced today the acquisition of all North American distribution rights to the latest film by Amy Heckerling (Clueless, Fast Times at Ridgemont High), Vamps. Starring Alicia Silverstone (Clueless, Batman & Robin), Krysten Ritter (Don't Trust the B---- In Apartment 23, Confessions of a Shopaholic), Wallace Shawn (Toy Story, The Princess Bride) and Sigourney Weaver (Aliens, Avatar), the film combines the fun of the classic hit Clueless with the tremendous popularity of vampires. A theatrical release is expected near Halloween. The deal was announced by Bill Clark, President of Anchor Bay Entertainment.

Malcolm McDowell and Marilu Henner Join ‘Vamps’

Red Hour Films announced today that Malcolm McDowell and Marilu Henner have joined the cast of Amy Heckerling's upcoming vampire romance drama Vamps. Zak Orth, who was last seen in The Other Guys, has also come aboard the film.

Written and directed by Amy Heckerling, Vamps stars Alicia Silverstone (whose first breakout role came in Amy Heckerling's Clueless) and rising actress Krysten Ritter as two freewheeling vampires set loose on New York City's infamous nightlife. When one of them unexpectedly falls in love, they both have to make a decision that could forever affect their immortality.

Written and to be directed by Heckerling, Vamps tells the modern day tale of two young beautiful female vampires (Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter) living the good nightlife in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize her immortality. Filming begins this week in Detroit, Michigan.

The actors join the previously announced cast, Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter, Sigourney Weaver, Richard Lewis and Kristen Johnston.
