The Weinstein Company Buys the Rights to ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’

The Weinstein Company have just picked up the rights to Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this marks the sixth production between Allen and the Weinstein Co., which began with Allen's 1994 comedy Bullets Over Broadway.

The romantic comedy will star Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Scarlett Johansson. Vicky Cristina Barcelona is a film about two Americans vacationing in Spain, who become tangled up in a series of romances between an artist and his crazy ex-wife.

Showtime to Screen Its Emmy Nominated Series On-Line

This year, Showtime is getting rid of the Emmy screener. Instead of sending out selected episodes of its series in the mail, the cable network will now make all of its Emmy nominated programming available on-line. According to Variety, entire seasons will be available for download.

These series will become available to Emmy voters on February 15th.

Woody Allen's Barcelona project now has a title, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

A co-production between Gravier and Barcelona-based Mediapro, with collaboration by Spanish broadcaster Antena 3, the film is set for release in Spain in fall 2008.
